Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026
This privacy policy explains how Paw Pulses ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit pawpulses.com or subscribe to our email newsletter. We try to write it in plain English. If something is unclear, email us at hello@pawpulses.com.
Who we are
Paw Pulses is an independent pet wellness publication based in the United States. We publish content about senior dog health, recommend products through affiliate partnerships, and sell digital products on Etsy. We don't have employees beyond a small operating team.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address and first name when you subscribe to our newsletter or download a free guide
- Any information you include in messages when you email us (hello@pawpulses.com or contact@pawpulses.com)
Information collected automatically when you visit the site
- Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent, referring website
- Cookies and similar technologies for analytics, advertising attribution, and remembering your preferences
- Pixel-based tracking from Pinterest, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), and Google for ad attribution and audience measurement
Information we do NOT collect
- Payment information (purchases happen on Etsy, Amazon, or affiliate partner sites — those companies handle payment data, not us)
- Sensitive personal information (we don't ask for it and have no use for it)
- Information about children under 13 (this site is not directed at children)
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send you the email newsletter you subscribed to
- Deliver any free guides or downloads you requested
- Understand which articles and products are useful to readers
- Improve site performance and user experience
- Track conversions from advertising campaigns we run
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Cookies, tracking, and advertising
Paw Pulses uses cookies and tracking pixels from the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics — to understand site traffic and content performance
- Pinterest Tag — to measure performance of Pinterest content and ads
- Meta Pixel (when ads are running) — to measure performance of Facebook/Instagram ads
- Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Awin, Impact, ShareASale, etc.) — to attribute purchases made through links on our site to the appropriate merchant
These third parties have their own privacy policies. They may use the data they collect through our site to show you targeted ads on other websites.
You can opt out of most ad tracking via:
- Network Advertising Initiative opt-out
- Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out
- Your browser's "Do Not Track" setting (we honor it)
- Your browser's cookie controls (you can block third-party cookies entirely)
Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. The affiliate network (Amazon, Awin, Impact, ShareASale, etc.) tracks these clicks via cookies. They do not share your personal information with us — they share aggregated commission data only (e.g. "you earned $X from clicks last month").
For more on our affiliate practices, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Email newsletter
When you subscribe:
- We use Ghost (our publishing platform) to deliver emails
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email — no questions, no friction
- We don't share your email with anyone outside of Ghost's email infrastructure (which is necessary to actually send the emails)
- We don't use spam-trigger tactics, fake urgency, or sell your email to other newsletters
Data retention
We keep email subscribers on our list until you unsubscribe. Once you unsubscribe, your address is removed from active mailings within 24 hours and from our records within 30 days, unless we're legally required to retain it.
Server logs are retained for 90 days for security and analytics purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- Access — request a copy of the data we have about you
- Deletion — request that we delete your data
- Correction — request that we fix inaccurate data
- Opt-out — opt out of marketing emails (just unsubscribe) or analytics tracking (use the opt-out tools above)
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pawpulses.com. We respond within 30 days.
If you live in California, the CCPA applies. We do not sell your personal information.
If you live in the EU/UK, the GDPR/UK GDPR applies. Our legal basis for processing your information is your consent (when you sign up for the newsletter) and our legitimate interest (in operating the website).
Security
We use Ghost (a hosted publishing platform with enterprise-grade infrastructure) to run pawpulses.com. We do not store your email address or other data on our own servers — Ghost handles that. Ghost is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
That said, no system is 100% secure. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify affected users within 72 hours per applicable law.
Children
This site is not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, email hello@pawpulses.com and we'll remove the address.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. If changes are material, we'll note them in the next email newsletter.
